Claims Manager

San Antonio, TX

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Manager (On-site) to lead our claims operations. Operating under the general supervision of the Claims Director, you will be responsible for managing Claims Supervisors and their respective claims teams. In this role, you will implement department goals and strategic initiatives aligned with our core company objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight and management of Claims Supervisors and Claims Department staff.
  • Implement department goals and initiatives in alignment with company objectives.
  • Develops and enforces departmental policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration and interdepartmental initiatives.
  • Delivers operational reports and performance metrics to leadership.
  • Manages escalated claims and high-impact departmental issues.
  • Leads performance management, coaching, and staff development.
  • Drives continuous process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Represents the Claims Department in management-level meetings and committees.
  • Maintains proficiency in Subject Matter Expert and Claims Supervisor functions with comprehensive coverage as normal responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years management experience in the medical claims field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of claims operations, quality management, performance metrics, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing employees, departmental performance, operational reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

  • AHIMA or AAPC Certification.
  • Progressive claims experience over 5 years.
  • More than 5 years management experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Self-Funded, Fully Insured, Indemnity, Dental, and/or Vision health plan experience.
  • Federal and State Regulatory experience.
